Hiltz Squared Media Acquires '50 Feet From Syria'
Documentary on Oscar Short List for Best Documentary Short
January 2016 - Toronto-based production and distribution company Hiltz Squared Media has acquired the worldwide TV rights to '50 Feet From Syria', a poignant and important documentary about a surgeon who performs necessary surgeries on the Turkish-Syrian border. 50 Feet From Syria is a portrait of a quiet and determined Syrian-American surgeon, performing intricate acts of medical necessity undeterred by the chaos and complexity of war around him. The film serves as a snapshot in time for the current plight of Syrian refugees. It also indelibly communicates the human cost of one of the most brutal, dehumanizing conflicts in modern history that continues to destroy and displace millions of lives.
Myles Shane Senior VP of Acquisitions at Hiltz Squared Media acquired the film from its Producer Skye Fitzgerald. Shane could not think of a more timely film, "This documentary is a topical and important film that helps the world understand the horrors that are happening in Syria right now. We feel compelled to represent it." Hiltz Squared Media is a multi-faceted media company focusing and distribution and production. The company was built by brother and sister Jonathan and Naomi Hiltz.
